I think maybe Jerry Lester needed a better voice,  too.

As DeLugg was the "house band" on Lester's  Broadway Open House TV show, 
I'll bet Lester sang the number on the show at least once.

I enjoyed DeLugg's little band on the original chuck Barris "Gong Show" in 
the late 70s.
