[78-L] Strauss: electric or acoustic

I just found the Richard Strauss recording   conducting his Der 
Rosenkavalier:Waltz on Purple Label Brunswick 25016..  The  matrix numbers 
are 227 bm and 228 bm. Now the question...is this an acoustic or an 
electrical? It's either a surprising acoustic or a crummy early electric. 
The playing of the Berlin State Opera Orchestra on side one is  a bit 
wanting in precision, shall we say.
