[78-L] Specht book

Having worked in business with both book collectors and record collectors,
I've found that each group is always startled that the other group is
willing to spend a lot of money for material related to their own
interests.

I' ve had a lot of jazz and pop music books and autographs pass through my
hands over the years as both a dealer and a collector. All I can say is
I've never had the Specht book and have only seen one other Specht autograph
offered for sale.

By comparison, some twenty years ago I had a Gennett Sioux City Six which
had a Bix signature glued to the label, It had been clipped from some sales
receipt from the time he was working in a lumber yard (as I recall) and was
signed in full Leon Bix Beiderbecke. At the time that sold for $3,750 so
250 today for Mr. Specht (and a very scarce book) seems pretty fair.
