Sadly, we DON'T know (the original LIFE article MAY have told us?!)
whether the oriental gentleman featured in the photo was a Communist
official, searching for evil capitalist "jazz" content to make sure all
offending records were destroyed posthaste...or a local "jazz fan"
hoping to salvage his choice of the "evil capitalist music"...?!

The late-1948 date suggests this represented the takeover of the "Reds"
after they won the revolution (including the right to adulterate products
with melamine whenever advantageous...?!)

Our next question will have to be WHICH country/system is best
able to survive "Great Depression--The Sequel"...?! (or whether, 
indeed, this will unite with the current ecological events, as well
as possible nuclear conflicts, will reduce the population of our
planet to radioactive cockroaches...?!)
