Quite a few popular Los Angeles dance bands are featured both on the screen
or on the soundtrack of MGM films, especially those led by Gus Arnheim and
Earl Burtnett. This doesn't sound like either of those, though. Paging John
Leifert?

Chris,
IMDb.com readers don't recognize the singer, orchestra or the
actors playing musicians. Visually ID'ing the nightclub singer/actor
won't guarantee that he is actually the singer of the song.
It should be safe to assume that this is a studio band with
anonymous singer, prerecording in a generic style for playback on set.
Only the MGM studio records will reveal the answers IMHO. How
does one get at those?
