Which, considering what started this overall topic, brings up the point
of whether the EDVR will include the data of what the original mastering
source materials are. The ledger sheets themselves indicate a Wax
number, or Flowed (meaning wax flowed onto a metal plate), or Lacquer,
Film, or whatever else they were using. This might be considered
discographically insignificant since it is not directly related to the
performance, but as you can see, it does enter into the discussion,
including sound quality situations.

Can anyone date this recording for me? I'm presuming it was no later than 1952, the end of Monteux's 'reign' with this orchestra. I'd not heard this before, so it was a new Rimsky-Korsakoff experience for me. I'll also presume it was recorded at the War Memorial in San Francisco. I don't recall what year RCA Victor?stopped issuing 78rpm classical sets. I do have the Toscanini Grand Canyon Suite on both 78s & Lp, an example of issuing recordings in all the formats.
