This is true. In fact I think Compo kept the Showboat set in print after it no 
longer had the rights, based on the pressings I've seen which definitely look 
post-1940.

...And U.S. Decca kept cranking out John Hammond's Parlophone sides on its "Gems of Jazz" series into the 10-inch LP era.
