78s/45s/LPs, but don't recall ever listening to this very early work.

What's so difficult?  He was the greatest violinist of the 20th century, bar NONE!  Don't forget, he was taught by the greatest teached of the last century, Leopold Aur, who also taught Elman, Zimbalist, Milstein, Seidel, Spivakovsky, etc., etc., etc.
