Dave, you wrote

The Heifetz records are particularly impressive.  It's hard to believe he 
was a teenager when they were recorded.  I've got many of his later 
78s/45s/LPs, but don't recall ever listening to this very early work.

What's so difficult?  He was the greatest violinist of the 20th century, bar NONE!  Don't forget, he was taught by the greatest teached of the last century, Leopold Aur, who also taught Elman, Zimbalist, Milstein, Seidel, Spivakovsky, etc., etc., etc.
