Every chance. Three-sided pressings of half-hour comedy shows tended to
have any one of the following on the fourth side:

1. An entirely separate, short radio programme.
2. An etching of the BBC coat of arms.
3. Tone (sometimes labelled, sometimes not).
*4. Blank, unmodulated groove (sometimes labelled, sometimes not).*

Furthermore, BBC Sound Effects Centre disc EC81E is a 12" coarse-grooved
78 of unmodulated groove, labelled "Blank Record (Unmodulated Groove)
Duration 4'00", 78rpm". Its matrix number is 12RD 122123, both sides.

Having thought about this, could the original enquiry have been about a
BBC transcription disc, perhaps, rather than a commercial release? I
have all of the Goons' UK 78s, and none of them sport a blank side.

Hope this helps,

Martin (ex-BBC).
